Chicken and the Trimmings

So Mark and I bet a whole chicken that the other person would do better in an essay. I won and so he had to buy me a chicken. This is it roasted to perfection:

It really was excellent chicken. And we have so much left over to make a pie and sandwiches.
These were its trimmings, roast potatoes and stuffing:

We also had yorkshire puddings and homemade gravy made from the chicken juices, roasted vegetables and chicken stock. We had enough food to feed around 7 people. I am so full.

Also, I have to rethink my dinner rating system. Today's dinner really was dinner, but all the other dinners have also been dinner. Oh well.

Dinner rating: dinner.

Butternut Squash Curry

Today I cooked. It took quite a while but it was really enjoyable to make.
Butternut Squash Curry with Basmati rice and homemade Saag Aloo:

 Butternut Squash Curry

Saag Aloo

I burnt the rice which was a bit of a mishap but you couldn't really taste it with the curry. The smells you get when adding the spices are amazing. The meal was really flavoursome, but very filling. I got the recipe for the curry in The Guardian Weekend magazine. It was very easy. The Saag Aloo came off the BBC food website. I think it was from a meal on Something For The Weekend.

Dinner rating: dinner.

The First Dinner

So I'm making a blog about dinner because I love dinner. Mark and I cook a lot, and talk about dinner a lot (well, I do). I will post pictures of the dinner and explain the dinner and give it a dinner rating from 1 to dinner.

This was dinner today:

Salmon and asparagus pasta with homemade garlic bread and strawberry cheesecake for dessert.

It was quite lemony, but very refreshing. This was the first time I had poached salmon in a microwave. Homemade garlic bread is so easy and so cheap and so much better than shop bought garlic bread.

Dinner rating: Definitely dinner.
